Request Prescription Refills
Enjoy a smooth and efficient prescription refill process. To ensure you understand when an appointment is required and how to manage your refills, please review the following information.
When do you need to schedule an appointment for refill?
Medications Prescribed by Specialists
If your medication was prescribed by a specialist, an appointment with us will be required for a refill, especially if the medication or dose is not routinely managed in primary care.
General Medication Refills
If you have not been seen in the last 3 months, or if you are requesting a refill for a medication prescribed by another practice or specialist, you must schedule an appointment with us.
Maintenance Medications
If you need a refill for a maintenance medication (a medication taken daily for a chronic condition without adjustments), and you’ve been seen in the past 3 months, you may request refills via our patient portal or phone. Ensure you request refills at least 7 business days before your medication runs out.
Prior Authorization Medications
Some medications require prior authorization, which may involve several steps and take several days. We will process the request as quickly as possible, but approval from your insurance company cannot be guaranteed. Check with your pharmacy for updates.
New Prescriptions or Refills
A visit is necessary for any new prescription or refill of antibiotics. This ensures appropriate management of your condition and medication.
Controlled Substances
For refills of controlled substances prescribed by an AllCare Physician, a follow-up visit is necessary because these medications have a high potential for abuse and dependence. Therefore, refills cannot be issued without a recent office visit within the last 3 months.

Request Refills Early
Advance Notice: Request refills at least 7 business days before running out of medication. This allows time for processing and scheduling any necessary appointments.

No-Show Policy
Impact on Refills: Consistent no-shows or cancellations can delay refills. Keeping your appointments is crucial for timely medication management.

Bridge Prescriptions
Eligibility: Bridge prescriptions may be provided for certain medications if you have had regular appointments and necessary tests.

Regular Appointments
Chronic Conditions: Patients with chronic conditions should have regular follow-up appointments, generally every 3-6 months. If you haven’t been seen in the last 6 months, you’ll need a follow-up visit before receiving refills.
